It all started in 1938, in Manchester, when John Sorenson developed a soft sticky malt loaf made to a top-secret recipe. As popularity of the little loaf grew, the brand became known as Soreen and developed into one of the most loved and iconic British food brands.
In 2010, , Soreen updated its packaging and introduced the line “deliciously squidgy energy”. . Production had reached an average of 1 million loaves per week and Soreen customers just couldn't get enough.
Between 2013 and 2014, Soreen celebrated turning 75 years of age, firmly established as the UK's number one malt loaf. Soreen was then acquired by Gibbs Croft Limited who are part of the Samworth Brothers group. Samworth is a fourth generation family company with 16 businesses producing high quality chilled foods for the British market, employing over 8,000 people in well-invested, modern sites in Leicestershire and Cornwall.
