Job Details
New role for a Quality Assistant, Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
Salaried role, up to 25k plus 33 days annual holiday plus benefits.
JOB OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Assistant Quality Manager, this role will share the responsibility for the Food Safety & Quality Management Programme by helping to develop a Food Safety Culture within the business by helping to drive and champion Quality Standards by adhering to, and monitoring procedures and practices, sustaining and improving standards and embracing change.
Due to the complexity of our customer base, we are a highly audited site and therefore must be continually compliant with Customer Codes of Practice, Technical Policies and Standards in addition to maintaining our BRCGS Accreditation.
The primary focus of the Quality Assistant will be to work within the Quality Department to strengthen the Food Safety Management System to ensure it encompasses and maintains all required standards as referenced above and ensure that the site is audit ready every day.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Working closely with all Departmental Managers, Operators, Hygiene and Engineering Teams across all levels of the business.
External: Communication with Contract Laboratories, Pest Control Contractor, and other service providers as appropriate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pre-Requisite Responsibilities:
1.Wear correct food safe PPE and always operate in a food safe manner in accordance with factory standards.
2.Adhere to all housekeeping standards to maintain a food safe working environment.
3.Advocate the Food Safety Culture based on the three principles of knowledge, capability and attitude.
4.Adhere to all quality procedures to make a food safe product to manufacturing specification.
5.Identify food safety or product quality issues, help solve immediate problems and report issues to line manager, in a timely manner.
6.Complete all quality paperwork accurately and completely to ensure compliance to quality procedures, legislation and to maintain traceability through the plant.
7.Complete all tasks in accordance with relevant SOPs and Work Instructions as trained.
8.Complete all required paperwork, sampling schedules or electronic data input accurately and completely to ensure compliance to quality systems, legislation and to maintain traceability.
9.Ensure quality assessment and /or sampling tasks are processed in a timely manner and that any resulting issues are reported efficiently to the line manager.
Primary Objectives:
1.Sample analysis in line with the schedule, ensuring all samples are sent at the appropriate time and for the correct test parameters, assess test results to ensure compliance to specification. Report any OOS results and trend reporting to QM. Upload the certificate for future reference and complete the sample submission log
2.Environmental monitoring, ensuring all swabs are sent at the appropriate time and for the correct test parameters, assess test results to ensure compliance to specification. Report any OOS results. Upload the certificate for future reference and complete the sample submission log
3.Inspecting all Pest Control prevention measures are fully operational, and the internal inspection log is completed as specified with any issues reported to the AQM
4.Daily finished product sample checks, assessing the finished product for compliance to specification
5.Determine any levels of metal contamination within specified raw materials
6.Undertake incoming packaging checks to ensure integrity and compliance to specification. Update and maintain the packaging spec library
7.Verification of 1st finished pack checks from packing lines
8.Assist with daily GMP and Hygiene audits of dry facility, raw materials intake, engineering, multipacking and finished goods areas.
9.Report findings of daily GMP and Hygiene audit for the daily production meeting with trend results
10.Complete meat Meals Metal Sifting
11.Complete magnet screen checks and maintain log and trending results
12.Individual projects as agreed with and allocated by the Quality Manager
13.Ensure corrective actions are embedded within all areas of the business
14.Any other tasks as allocated by your line manager
15.Co-ordinate all export load ensuring dispatch occurs as required
Secondary Role Objectives:
1.To work with all areas of the business to assist quality improvement
2.Working with operations to ensure that staff always conform to the site Hygiene Rules
KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
·Catalogue of daily GMP and Hygiene audits with follow up evidence for non-conformances
·Reporting of raw material OOS identification
·Timely and accurate completion of testing schedule
·Detailed and accurate maintenance of packaging spec library
·GMP and internal audit results relating to pest control measures and accurate data recorded on pest control log
PERSONAL COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
·Experience in food processing or manufacturing or pharmaceutical with ideally a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a dedicated Quality Role
·Strong background in Food Safety, Risk Assessments, Quality Management Systems, and process control
·Experience of BRCGS Standards and Customer Codes of Practice
·Knowledge of HACCP, ideally Level 3
·Experience in the development and management of Food Safety Management Systems in a regulated environment, including process management principles, internal audits, and continual improvement
·Self-motivated with initiative to work individually or part of a team
·Attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills
·Proactive with good time management skills
·A demonstrated numerical ability to record, interpret and analyse key process data
·A high level of computer literacy and competency
·A willingness to travel to other sites within the business if required
