Are you an experienced Transport Manager looking for a new opportunity to lead and develop a transport function? We have an exciting position available with our client, a leading FMCG company where you will be responsible for ensuring efficient and cost-effective management of personnel and fleet. You will contribute to the successful delivery of customer products while promoting a culture of health and safety, compliance, continuous improvement, and prudent cost management.

Key Responsibilities:

* Ensure vehicles are dispatched and routed correctly to meet customer delivery requirements.
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other sites and departments, fostering clear communication channels.
* Lead the development and training of your team, ensuring they receive appropriate support and development for succession planning.
* Act as the primary representative of the transport function within sites.
* Ensure compliance with budgetary, service, security, stock integrity, health and safety, and other legal requirements, including adherence to food safety standards (BRC).
* Identify and address operational transport issues and potential problems, driving them to resolution.
* Ensure compliance with all transport policies, legislation, and procedures.
* Identify proactive opportunities to improve the plan and DOT performance.
* Create staff rotas to cover holidays and maintain cross-functional knowledge among team members.
* Collaborate with the Strategic Planning Manager on all operational changes.
* Operate transport according to company 'O license' requirements.
* Monitor and control cost per pallet between transport and planning to remain within budget

Skills and Experience:

* Extensive transport management experience in a fast-paced environment.
* Demonstrated ownership of personal and team performance.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
* Understanding of a target-driven environment and ability to manage costs, revenues, and profit within the transport context.
* Comprehensive knowledge of Transport and Planning Management Systems.
* National and international CPC qualification.
* Proven track record of running a fully compliant transport operation.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Familiarity with vehicle telematics and understanding of different systems' pros and cons.
* Experience in working with KPIs to drive process improvements.
* Strong numeracy and IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Transport Management Systems).
* Willingness to challenge established practices and contribute fresh ideas.
