Salary : £26,000 - £30,000 (depending on experience)

Reporting to the Product Development Manager you will ensure only safe, legal and high-quality materials – from suppliers striving to be the best.  Support the product development process and related technical activity.

Responsibilities

  • To assist the Product Development Manager on all new and existing product development projects
  • Accurate completion of all documentation associated with NPD and EPD process (e.g., trial documents, sensory evaluation, shelf-life review, recipe cards, mix cards and quality standards etc.)
  • Assist in organising, implementing & liaising with other departments before, during and after product launches. Initiating the NPD or EPD process and ensure that any NPD required documentation is handed over to the manufacturing team and QA team in preparation for NPD launches/trials and EPD changes to ensure smooth launches & transitions.
  • Product building and costing within company software systems.
  • Coordination and communication with new & current suppliers in obtaining samples, prices, and other related information.
  • Assist in building and developing presentations, spreadsheets, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders
  • Admin of gathering data for the yield loss and line loss of ingredients. Liaise with the QA department on EPD to improve and streamline products, processes & ingredients
  • Continuously strive to improve functions, processes, and systems with own remit.
  • Accompany the Product Development Manager on food safaris to understand new trends and incorporate them into viable products.
  • Supplier assessment, approval, and monitoring. (SCNL to lead)
  • Raw material approval and monitoring. (SCNL to lead)
  • Risk assesses and recommendation risk management actions for the raw materials (SCNL to lead)
  • Internal auditing, reporting findings and follow up on identified non-conformances.
  • Other day to day departmental duties as required by the business

Knowledge:

Extensive and comprehensive training will be given to the right candidate, in addition to this the candidate is required to have:

  • Food Science and Technology Degree
  • Knowledge of labelling legalisation and general food legislation
  • HACCP level 3 qualification
  • Familiar with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • NPD Experience 1 year
