Head of Sales, Bakery

With ambitious plans to grow we’re seeking a talented Head of Sales to join a privately owned premium Artisan Bakery catapulting the business through an exciting phase of growth, shaping the future of the company.

Having recently moved into a new 30,000 sq ft Bakery, investing significantly in state-of-the-art equipment and built its production team to increase capacity the business is poised for success over the coming years ready to improve on its already strong reputation for quality, innovation and service.

The Role

Reporting directly to the company’s CEO, the Head of Sales will have full accountability for sales, account management and the customer functions.  You’ll be responsible for building a sales team, creating a customer focused culture and have a say in future product innovation.

With an already loyal customer base, the growth strategy is focused primarily on growing through acquiring new customers in foodservice & hospitality channels, specifically hotels, multi-site restaurant groups, pubs, bars and contract caters in London and the surrounding areas.

In addition to delivering the growth/ sales agenda will be ensuring to deliver outstanding levels of customer service building on the already strong reputation they have built.  You’ll direct and support external marketing teams, continuing to build the profile of the brand and create awareness amongst target customers.

As Head of Sales, you’ll be adept at creating outstanding relationships with chefs, operations directors, procurement teams and business owners and support closely in the development and creation of new products based on market needs and customer trends.

Finally, as a fast-growing and privately-owned SME you’ll relish a broad role filled with variety. Working closely with the CEO in this highly entrepreneurial environment you’ll play a pivotal role in helping shape the future of this business.

The Candidate – what we’re looking for…

  • A proven commercial track record within a food manufacturing business
  • Experience of selling fresh/ ambient food products into restaurants, hotels, national chains, pubs or other foodservice and hospitality outlets
  • A track record of delivering sales growth via new customer acquisition and/ or via existing Ideally you’ll have had exposure to wide range of operating models and/or product categories
  • Strong people management skills are essential
  • A non-corporate style, you must be an individual who is flexible in their approach i.e. comfortable being very hands on when needed but also capable at a strategic level
  • Passionate about great quality food and has unrelenting focus on delivering a quality service
  • High emotional intelligence with an abundance of understanding and humility
  • Can communicate clearly and effectively to range of different audiences
