Job Details

On MDS, you will have the opportunity to experience varied roles in different organisations across the entire supply chain. Our 60 + Member businesses represent all aspects of the food, fresh produce, horticulture and agriculture supply chain, from growers to supermarkets. All candidates are employed by MDS at £22,000 per annum, rising to £23,000 in year two.

To apply to all development programmes, you must be eligible to work in the UK. You will also need a full driving licence and the use of a car by the time you start MDS.

Operations and Development

New for 2022, the MDS Operations and Development scheme opens up opportunities in the food industry to people of all ages and backgrounds. If you have worked for at least two years and can demonstrate relevant experience and transferrable skills, you could join our 18-month programme to start a new career in food manufacturing and logistics.

Like all MDS programmes, the Operations and Development scheme is challenging yet rewarding. Successful candidates are seconded to Member companies for two very different six to 12-month placements. You will also be given the support and training to achieve a formal Level 3 qualification.

As Members are across the UK, you are likely to be asked to relocate for each placement. If your family circumstances make that difficult, we will endeavour to find local placements.

At the end of the 18-month programme, our Members will also be invited to make permanent role offers. You may be able to choose to continue with MDS to further your training and experience or accept a permanent position with one of our Members.

Company

MDS is a unique partnership of companies that was formed in 1986 to attract high calibre recruits with management potential into the Fresh Food, Produce, Horticulture and Arable supply chain.

Today MDS works on behalf of membership companies to provide a graduate scheme designed to equip young people with the experience, training and mind-set so that they have the confidence and ability to rapidly become senior business leaders within the industry.

The membership includes growers, suppliers and retailers of vegetables, salads, meat products and agrochemicals as well as agronomy specialists.

By selecting talented graduates, providing quality training and facilitating a breadth of experience across multiple businesses, MDS has been consistently delivering highly capable, talented future leaders to the food and fresh produce industry for over 30 years.
