Environmental Sustainability Lead

Peterborough / Huntingdon – Hybrid working with international travel.

60-65k + Benefits

With great power comes great responsibility and with the growth of the business we are looking for a sustainability lead to work on a global basis in enhancing the environmental sustainability agenda.

What’s it all about?...

You will lead the global environmental sustainability agenda for the business, to offer some context of this this will affect the lives of circa 40’000 workers across.

Closely working with SLT within the business to create an integrated way to address & approach business impacts. Particular focus on areas in the company of operations, procurement, supply chain & technical functions.

Outside of the business you will be in contact with a number of suppliers across various continents, global shareholders, retail customers to name a few areas.

Our key purpose to be the go-to expert on environmental impact for the group, collating information & actioning for a better industry & planet for us all.

A high impact role no doubt!

  • Lead the environmental and net zero strategy for the Group. 
  • Be the technical expert for driving the decarbonisation and circularity agenda and embed this in business operations and decisions. 
  • Establish environmental sustainability KPIs and working with the Engagement and Reporting Manager, ensure robust reporting against these to the Board but also to align to / go beyond regulatory disclosure requirements
  • Drive the circularity agenda and innovation in packaging and reducing waste throughout our operations and in our supply chain
  • Working with the Technical team, establish best in class regenerative agricultural policies and practices (including peat reduction, water management and biodiversity) and oversee the monitoring of grower / supplier conformance to these policies and audits.
  • Horizon scanning and work with the Insight and NPD team to ensure that consumer insight is driving the ESG strategy. 
         

What will you need to be successful here?...

  • Extensive experience in environmental role with a key focus on carbon foot printing
  • Demonstrates ability in setting strategy with measurable & deliverable actions
  • Ideally knowledge & experience from a FMCG/Horticulture/agricultural market (desirable)
