Category and Marketing Director - Home based / East of England
We are working exclusively with an industry leading Food Manufacturing business in the search for a high profile and experienced Marketing and Category Director. The individual will be joining the Senior Leadership team and wholly responsible for the design, implementation and execution of the Marketing, Category and Insights strategy to drive sales and growth to their product areas.
Recognised as leaders and pioneers in their field, they have developed a reputation as one of their industries best. They are stable, profitable and performing well even seeing some growth during the turbulent challenges the industry have seen in the last 18months. Supplying major retail, foodservice and B2B customers their customer portfolio across own label and branded products is vast. They understand that Category and Insights is a key component to growth and future successes and therefore wish to strengthen this area of their business with a talented individual.
The Job Role
The Marketing and Category Director will drive the core categories alongside the Senior Leadership Team, providing category direction and data insights to steer and drive commercial performance. They will lead the Marketing function across various categories giving quality data insights internally and externally to customers.
From a Category management perspective, the individual alongside their team will be utilising various insights to determine industry and consumer trends, leveraging this data to create a clear vision of the market and category that leads to category marketing plans. This will be of course linked closely with a devised long-term marketing strategy that leads to improvements in each individual category performance. All of this will lead to planned pricing, product selection and routes to market working hand in glove with the Commercial teams.
The wider Marketing responsibilities will involve the development, creation and delivery of market campaigns and initiatives which will be designed to drive buyer/customer action. As the "Brand Guardian" the Director will make sure all communications are in line with the overall brand rules and direction.
What We Are Looking For
Being clear we aren't searching for just a strategist, we are searching for a specialist who is comfortable being involved from top to bottom and being able to deliver their own strategy. It's a given that the individual will have experience in the Food sector and operated at 'Head Of' or 'Director' level in the Marketing and Category functions of those businesses. They will have a track record of success in utilising category data to improve commercial performance in the own label and branded world. From a person specification they will have a strong work ethic, be a relationship builder (internally and externally), autonomous and have strong communication skills at all levels. With multiple stakeholders to engage with and take on the journey the successful candidate will have experience in corporate structures which has involved stakeholder management. Finally, we are searching for a dynamic individual who can bring enthusiasm and direction to this role.
