A brand that is known all around the world, with their products in all the major retailers is seeking to hire a Packaging Technologist to join the NPD team at their site in County Durham.   It is an exciting time to join this international FMCG company – as a leader in their category, they continue to push the boundaries of excellence and technology with a constant drive to innovate, making it a very passionate and dynamic place to be.

Packaging Technologist - summary of key responsibilities;

  • To support the head of packaging development to understand the consumer, customer needs and technical requirements from their packaging to develop a programme of work that delivers commercial growth and competitive advantage for their products
  • Manage relationships with design houses to support development of good practice
  • Improve printing process and quality of reprographics
  • Brief artworks, create and maintain cutter guides, coordinate packaging redesign projects on current SKUs and manage new film changeovers on site
  • Support NPD process to bring new products to market with trials and transit support. Manage timelines for packaging printing and introduction on site
  • Manage day to day issues with site packaging, supporting QA and operations
  • To ensure all existing packaging is fit for purpose, compliant with technical and legal requirements, specifications developed and held electronically for access
  • Deliver packaging cost saving and rationalisation projects
  • Build supplier relationships to increase packaging knowledge of industry trends and competitors and  innovation capability

    • Packaging Technologist - To be successful in this role you will need;

  • Experience gained in a similar role from food manufacturing
  • To be commercially competent, passionate, highly organised and incredibly driven and delivers with pace
  • Working knowledge of technical and legal requirements and specifications
  • Knowledge of industry trends and competitors and innovation capability to influence packaging development
  • Manage multiple priorities at once for differing channels
  • Highly numerical with strong IT skills including intermediate - advanced Excel working knowledge
  • Educated to degree level and relevant packaging qualifications would be beneficial
