A fantastic opportunity to join a well know brand. You will be responsible for the Technical and NPD teams across 2 manufacturing sites.

Primary Objectives

  • Establishing a food safety and quality culture, leading business implementation of the culture by enabling integration of relevant stakeholders. This to be aligned between both manufacturing sites and opportunities for shared resource / integration to be taken where practical.
  • Leading and developing technical and development teams in support of the food safety and quality culture, compliance, and business innovation and sales growth objectives.
  • Leading and developing technical and development teams in support of the food safety and quality culture, compliance, and business innovation and sales growth objectives.
  • Supporting operational management models, systems, and processes from the technical perspective.
  • Defining and delivering technical standards, performance and self-governance strategies that champion the vision, values, mission, and strategy of the business.
  • Specifying and implementing raw material and supplier management and relationship strategies in support of compliance, due diligence, and business strategy.
  • Gaining / maintaining ‘established authority’ with customers, by building collaborative and impactful relationships based on integrity and trust. Leading initiatives to support compliance with customer food safety and quality requirements and strategies.
  • Steering and responding to horizon scanning data in relation to food safety, quality, and business risk, interpreting implications and developing agile strategies for business reaction.
  • Monitor progress against the technical and development strategies, using effective review and feedback mechanisms.
  • Translate business, technical and development strategies into team member objectives, ensure the regular appraisal of achievement against objectives through 1 2 1’s.
  • Ensure effective performance KPI’s are embedded within the technical and development departments and continuously monitor performance against KPI’s. Update the business on performance against KPI’s
  • Establish operational processes for the effective functioning of the technical and development teams.
  • Ensure effective establishment and implementation of systems to support food safety, quality management and innovation.
  • Set and manage the overall budget for the technical and development departments.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Degree or equivalent in Food Science or related discipline.
  • Min 10 years’ experience in a technical leadership position in an FMCG or similar environment.
  • Track record acting as representative and ambassador in external forums, regulatory and non-regulatory.
  • Ability to develop and maintain customer relationships, particularly with major retailers.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools and techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of food legislation, BRC Global standards, other accreditation standards and retailer codes of practice.
  • Experience managing global supply bases, including audit experience, from food safety, integrity, and authenticity perspectives.
  • Collaborative communication style and experience influencing and engaging stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills with the ability to lead through critical business challenges.
  • Committed to coaching, mentoring, and developing individuals, with demonstrable passion.
  • Ability to understand business impact, locally and globally, of decisions made at site level.

  • Bonus upto 20%
