Overview

Nomad Foods (NF) is Europe’s largest branded frozen food business with sales of circa €2.3 billion

Group Procurement is a highly successful function and operates a crucial role in the Supply Chain, covering a Group spend of circa. €1.6 billion of spend across Directs and Indirects

The role is directly responsible for buying a core category with a portfolio value of circa €20m to €30m

Working at both a strategic and operational level, the role holder will identify and deliver sourcing projects, Value Creation and Category Management to meet the needs of the business

It is essential that the buyer works closely with the broader Group Procurement team to leverage NF expertise and scale across the business

Operates within an FMCG results orientated business, with the ability to manage complexity across several product categories, countries, manufacturing sites and Stakeholders

The Group Procurement function aspires to be “Best in Class” and the Buyer role will be expected to support this vision through the implementation of robust, leading edge systems and processes

Working in collaboration with internal Stakeholders and Suppliers the role holder will deliver excellent customer service to their internal Stakeholders and promote and support the Group Procurement function and strategic plan

A 2B Buyer will also be a Procurement champion for a nominated Supply Unit, lead on change projects outside of BAU tasks and support the overall Journey to Future-Fit vision of our CPO

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing from European & Global markets as appropriate for current and NPD products and provide market knowledge and insight for responsible categories and countries, taking more responsibility for complex Supply Chains than 2A Buyers
  • Ensure constant supply to 12 Manufacturing sites across Europe working in partnership with Raw Material Planners in local sites
  • Ensure Cost Models are in place with Nomad Foods Co-packers and identify and challenge addressable spend to generate best value to the Business
  • Manage annual budget and quarterly forecasting to identify TPV and category insight for market movements and project plans
  • Support monthly price movement with value-adding commentary to inform business of any material changes to Procurement plans / projects
  • Support and participate when appropriate the NFE Group S&OP Process
  • Develop and execute procurement flywheels for Core Category using 5-step Strategic Sourcing process delivering value across Quality, Service, Risk, Innovation and Cost with a spend responsibly of €20M to €30m per annum
  • Value Creation: use market and product expertise to generate Value engineering and Productivity Plans (part of the Nomad Foods Fuel for Growth Programme)
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management – building relationships (own and manage) with key business Stakeholders to build consensus and alignment
  • Commit to purchasing contracts up to €1m spend
  • Seeks Line Manager approval for contract commitment above €1m
  • Negotiates new Supplier Terms and Conditions in line with Group Procurement Policy
  • Identifies and selects new Suppliers aligned with agreed Sourcing strategy
  • Makes tender award decisions aligned with procurement operating principles and ensuring communication strategy is clear and delivered to appropriate Stakeholders 

In addition to the above, a 2B Buyer will:

  • Be the Procurement Champion for a nominated Supply Unit, developing high Stakeholder engagement and taking the lead to ensure there is a pro-active and effective relationship between procurement and the SU
  • Lead on change projects which fall outside of BAU tasks
  • Be responsible for buying a higher profile portfolio with bigger spends than a 2A Buyer

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent
  • 4+ years working as a Buyer
  • Creation and Implementation of a Sourcing Strategy Track record of delivering Value Engineering Projects
  • Global or European sourcing experience
  • Proven delivery of tangible benefits in quality, service, innovation and cost savings.
  • Demonstrates an awareness and understanding of market fundamentals and supply base
  • Demonstrates an awareness and of value chains & cost drivers
  • NPD sourcing / Value engineering cost-out initiatives
  • Use of e-Sourcing Tools
  • Use of Market insights as part of Day to Day for Commodity Tracking and market movements (Web, supplier data ...)
  • Negotiation skills, tendering and contracting
  • Understanding and execution of Strategic Sourcing Plans
  • Supplier performance & relationship management
  • Performance measurement and reporting
  • Benchmarking skills
  • Analytical and cost analysis skills (e.g. cost modelling)
  • Ability to influence internal Stakeholders / Suppliers
  • Good communication skills
