Senior Development Technologist

We have an exciting role of Senior Development Technologist within the NPD team based within either our Lightbody of Hamilton site or Johnstone’s Food Service site in East Kilbride, both part of Finsbury Food Group. 

This role works as part of the development team to support the delivery of the development pipeline. 

The Key Accountabilities of the role are as follows:

  •  Innovates new products and processes in response to customer briefs to maintain and grow a creative catalogue of products for our customers
  • Manage focused development of new products to deliver the required margin for our customers and the business
  • Able to develop new products to meet internal and external standards and requirement for a broader area of responsibility
  • Presents new product and process facts and ideas clearly, accurately and persuasively to customers internally and externally and cross functionally
  • Overall awareness of comparative products from all major retailers and competitors
  • Working to a critical path plan, organises and controls resources to deliver products and processes to an agreed quality and timescale
  • Monitors and benchmarks product quality of new and existing products and raises issues with development manager 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required for the role:

  •  Degree preferred Food Science / technology or similar degree / HND equivalent or relevant experience
  • Knowledge and passion for Food
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer literate – computer skills and knowledge of word and excel systems
  • Driving License
  • Basic or above Food Hygiene

It is the UK’s largest supplier of celebration cakes to UK retailers, having entered that market in the 1990s, over 100 years after it was established, in 1885, as a family retail bakery business. It now has Disney, Universal, Weight Watchers and Thorntons cakes within its licenced portfolio, as well as own-label cake for supermarket retailers. Products also include a wide range of sweet snacks, slices and in-store bakery bites.
