Shift Pattern: 4on 4off, 06:00-18:00

Purpose of Job:
Provide first line leadership for operating teams to deliver the range of operational key performance indicators (KPI’s) on an hourly and shift basis. In your role you will be accountable for the daily operational aspect of your designated line/ area.  You will be responsible for ensuring the production of quality products in a safe and organised working environment. 

Principle Accountabilities/ Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Line ownership -responsible for achieving results against the agreed set of KPIs with an hourly to shift perspective. These are aligned to the manufacturing strategy objectives outlined below
  • Put safety first: take ownership for all line HSE issues including achieving good housekeeping practices as a matter of routine. Ensure compliance with SOPs. Conduct detailed accident/near miss investigations. Involvement in risk assessments as required
  • Quality conscious: ensure full (operator) compliance with company quality and food safety systems (process control, HACCP, giveaway checks, PPE etc.) so that product is produced within specification and in a food safe way that meets customer requirements. Manage deviations, with appropriate QA support.
  • Service Driven: ensure delivery of the production schedule on a shift basis via running to budgeted output rates and changeover times
  • Cost critical: meet cost standards by being cost critical on waste, giveaway, total labour numbers, output rates and people productivity. Identify and, in conjunction with their Area Manager, pursue cost improvement opportunities
  • Escalate any issues in the above or other areas to the Area Manager within agreed parameters and procedures
  • To meet the requirements for routine reporting and administration whether this be verbal, written or face to face (meeting attendance)

Principle challenges / Key features:

  • Leadership of team members, responsible for the full range of line management activities including, training, development, discipline, communications, absence control, team leadership, motivation, materials, and direct labour within budget
  • Change of the production schedule
  • Achieving and beating line KPI’s on a shift by shift basis and provision of accurate information within agree timescales to support this for effective decision making.
  • Does not accept poor health and safety practices

Essential:

  • Experience in managing people including leading a team
  • Have worked in a process FMCG environment
  • Can demonstrate a sound understanding of the manufacturing process
  • Numeracy to understand costs and how to improve
  • Literacy – clear report writing
  • Analytical and problem solving skills for breakdowns / quality /waste issues
  • Basic PC skills to support communication, analysis and reporting
