National Sales Manager – Grocery 

Middlesex / Surrey (Office or Home Based)

Salary £45,000 pa - £65,000 pa + Bonus + Benefits

The Company

An expanding food manufacturing business that supplies the UK’s leading grocery retailers with premium ambient foods. With ambitious but achievable growth plans, they are seeking to appoint a National Account Manager to drive the sales plan in the UK market. 

With rapid growth potential amongst the major multiple retailers, we are seeking a National Sales Manager to join the business and develop profitable growth. This is a fantastic opportunity for a flexible, experienced and highly driven individual to contribute to a busy, fast-paced business as part of a small dynamic team. 

The Role

The National Sales Manager will be the driving force behind the company’s short, medium and long-term strategic development in the UK Grocery market and will be responsible for ensuring the commercial success of the business through profitable growth of sales and margin, selling predominately private-label ambient products.

Key accountabilities will be:

-Account management of current product portfolio within existing customers
-Negotiate and agree joint business plans with major retail customers
-Organise and attend customer meetings
-Gather market and customer information to identify new product opportunities that fits with the company strategy
-Take ownership of the full sales process from initial meeting through to sale and ongoing customer service
-Set, agree and manage a twelve-month sales plan and expenditure budget
-Build strong relationships with the major grocers including Waitrose, Ocado, M&S, Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda 
-Proactive member of the team, sharing best practice
-Taking a hands-on approach with daily contact with customers

You should demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and experience:

-Strong hands-on track record of developing profitable sales with UK major multiple retailers
-Commercial experience in dealing with suppliers as well as customers
-Experience in analysing and interpreting market data e.g. Nielsen / Kantar
-Excellent existing relationships with major multiple retailers
-First-class negotiation skills
-High levels of literacy and numeracy
-Good analytical skills, able to demonstrate a balanced well-reasoned approach to problem solving
-Able to work in the office one or two days a week with three or four days out visiting customers

The Company can provide a flexible package depending on experience from £45,000 pa - £65,000 pa + Bonus. 

The Company will consider both local applicants and applicants who live outside of the South East, as the requirement will be to attend the office one day a week. Ref: 3025
