The opportunity


Following significant growth and investment my client, a rapidly developing and successful chilled food business is seeking a Factory Manager for its Doncaster site, along with taking an active role developing ongoing operational efficiency


This site has undergone significant CAPEX investment (£10’s Million) over the last 3 – 5 years and as part of the Senior Leadership Team this role will also contribute to the next stage of investment and the wider business strategy.


My Client produces chilled Poultry products for the UK and international grocery market. There is a mix of automation and manual manufacturing processes, so a food production expert who has worked across both would be useful.


The Role


The Factory Manager role reports to the Site General Manager and will require you to lead the meat cutting and packing operation.

You will have excellent communication and leaderships skills required to manage, develop and lead your team.


You will be KPI focused overseeing all cutting and packing processes, to optimise quality, yield and efficiency levels.

 Daily Tasks and Responsibilities


Managing c.200 staff and 4 direct reports.

Look after cutting operation with a combination of both automatic and manual cutting.

Manage an ever increasing retail packing operation.

Work with team to further develop the automation of the site to reduce headcount further.

Implement cost improvement plans with particular focus on labour.

Continue to build on yield improvement plan.

Work with team to further increase volume of the plant

Lead continuous Improvement Projects

Improve standards and efficiencies within the department

Manage the ongoing site expansion plans




Skills and Experience


Experience of a fresh food manufacturing environment in a Supervisory /management role, ideally in a meat or produce related business


Educated to HNC/ HND in a relevant manufacturing discipline or similar NVQ Level 3 qualification.


Proven leadership skills
