Production Excellence Manager - Day Shift

The Production Excellence Manager is a key member of the Cargill Protein Europe leadership team. This position provides an exciting opportunity to support Cargill Protein Europe to drive forward yield efficiency, reduce variable loss, improve product quality and reduce line downtime and cleaning time across multiple manufacturing facilities (UK, France, Russia and Poland). 

Main Tasks:

  • Establish controls and standards related to variable cost during the manufacturing process (lost and gain during process and give away weight)

  • Internal benchmarking for yield and variable cost control and implement best practice to control costs 

  • Establish methodology to define line productivity metrics, analysis of these and implementation of best practice 

  • Support the Operations/ Production manager in improving the throughput of further processed products

  • Identify constraints in the production lines and work closely with the engineering team to initiate projects to de-bottleneck the process and improve product throughput 

  • Support the factory manager with the implementation of controls around OEE

  • Work with the food safety, quality and regulatory (FSQR) team to define standards around line cleaning time

  • Standardise cleaning processes to reduce downtimes related to sanitization whilst still maintaining the same hygiene quality


A Degree level qualification in a Science or Engineering discipline 

  • Established track record in sustained continuous improvement and change management related to manufacturing processes 

  • Formal certification in Lean Six Sigma is strongly preferred at Green or Black Belt level 

  • Understanding of SMED methodology 

  • Proven production management experience in the food manufacturing, FMCG or similar sector – Poultry and or Meat processing experience would be useful – ideally further processed products 

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge around production efficiency and OEE

  • Understanding of manufacturing variable costs and how to reduce costs 

  • Excellent leadership skills, able to communicate clear objectives, provide feedback, implement improvements for team and individuals performance 

  • Demonstrate change management skills, adaptable to changing business needs, introducing new ways of thinking and behaviors and getting buy in to drive sustained growth and change

  • Comfortable to manage ambiguity and complexity 

  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving and able to execute solutions in a timely manner

  • Ability to analyse and interpret manufacturing data to give meaningful reports and actions

  • Due to the role being responsible for multiple manufacturing sites (UK, France, Russia and Poland) extensive European travel is required
