Reporting into the Head of Quality and Technical, your role will be to manage the Food Technology Department and provide technical support across all departments, particularly the Marketing and Sales teams, ensuring specifications are correct and maintaining the finished product specification system as well as liaising with external customers.
You will ensure that the company is kept up to date regarding food legislation as well as customer and company standards, driving continuous improvements across the function whilst assisting with the benchmarking and analysis of new products, ensuring technical compliance to specifications as well as nutritional and shelf life requirements and advise on legal, nutrition and labelling matters.
You will also generate pack copy information for the creation of artwork, approve artwork, identify and advise on any labelling non-conformances, attend and assist with the development, pre-production trials and launches to ensure products are produced in accordance with their specifications and compile, review and update internal finished product specifications.
As well as a Food Science, Food Technology or other Science based degree / HND and previous experience in a technical role, you should have a good understanding of retailer specification systems (FIND, INSPIRE, TQC, ASPECT etc), knowledge of UK & EU Food Legislation, retailer policies & codes of practice, ingredients, nutrition & factory process methods and HACCP. In addition, you should have strong communication, influencing and team leadership skills and also be a real ‘team player’.
The Specifications Technologist job is based in the South Central / Midlands region and is paying up to £35,000 plus excellent benefits including 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, holiday purchase scheme, pension scheme, healthcare plan, retailer discounts, childcare vouchers, cycle to work scheme and free car parking.
