About the Job:
This role will focus on the delivery of commercial results through effective buying, category management, range reviews, innovation, supplier management and leading a team of buyers. You will utilise your retail buying and commercial experience to drive performance within the category and deliver the best possible range of products for the customer, at a great price. You will be able to work with suppliers to drive efficiency and long term relationships to ensure future supply. You will be very commercial and be able to deliver results first and foremost.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will come from a food retail environment and have a proven track record of consistently delivering commercial results. You will have experience in the fresh produce sector and understand the seasonality and short shelf life of fresh produce categories. You will be a team player and be able to lead a team of buyers to deliver results. You will have a good understanding of the fresh produce supply chain, importers, service providers and supplier models etc. You will be able to innovate and improve commercial performance.
Buying and/or commercial experience, as well as fresh produce category experience is a must for this role. As is the ability to lead a team, drive commercial performance and deliver results.
Our clients process consists of 2 stages, with a potential third if meetings have occurred off-site.
