Warehouse Operations Manager

  Hovis is one of the UK's leading food brands.  In fact, it's worth over £400m in retail sales.  In a very competitive market we have continued to demonstrate category leading product innovation and quality.  Our brand heritage and most recent performance is testament to this.  Unsurprisingly we have bold ambitions for our bsiness and brand.  We are now searching for a proacitve and committed Site Operations Manager for the warehouse at our Regional Distribution Centre in Dagenham. 

Job Purpose

To manage, develop and lead the warehouse team in the delivery of an operationally excellent warehouse function in line with Hovis supply chain business requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • To manage, develop and lead their team
  • To develop an efficient warehouse operation in line with the site plan and key business performance indicators
  • Comply with company and legal standards (safety, hygiene and environment)
  • Lead and develop continuous improvement activity in the teams delivery of KPI's, quality, value, safety, hygiene, environment and customer service
  • Ensure total compliance to all standard procedures and systems

People

  • Line manage a team of shift managers and warehouse operatives (organise, motivate, communicate, set objectives, review performance etc
  • Demonstrate visible leadership for the team
  • Develop the team to ensure a culture of continuous improvement becomes commonplace
  • Encourage teamwork and a supporting environment in order to improve business performance
  • Delivery of a training plan to budget to meet both individual and business needs

Knowledge & Specific Job Skills

Essential:

  • Knowledge and understanding of systems within a logistics function
  • Knowledge of Logistics/Manufacturing environment including HACCAP and Health & Safety legislative requirements
  • IT Literate

Experience:

  • Experience within a FMCG or fast moving goods distribution environment
  • Managing with financial constraints 
  • Leadership and People Management
  • Working within a Trade Union environment
