The Factory Manager is a key member of the Wolverhampton site leadership team. The site is a state of the art dedicated production facility, producing value added poultry products This position provides an exciting opportunity to lead and direct the site operations in compliance with legal, customer and Cargill standards, ensuring the site operations consistently deliver against the strategic goals of the business. The site is going through expansion and growth and the position holder will drive forward the continuous improvement culture and growth agenda for the business.

Main Tasks:

  • To lead and ensure the site complies with Cargill and legal environmental, health and safety (EHS) standards, championing a culture of ‘zero’ injuries, minimising our impact on the environment and ensuring all employees are educated and trained in the fundamentals of EHS

  • Provide overall oversite of EHS incident data identify risks and to proactively recommend risk mitigation strategies

  • Lead strategic initiatives representing the business with regulatory authorities

  • Accountable for the execution and delivery of production commitment for the site (33,000 tonnes of finished product per year) with a value of £100 million per annum

  • Responsible for the manufacturing operational key results including but not limited to; safety, yield, consumables, efficiency/ waste reduction, cost and take appropriate action to stay on track with budgets and key defined metrics

  • Enforces operational practices that drive performance and continually review KPI’s

  • responsible for the site budget (c. £15 million per annum) and controlling operating expenses

  • Accountable for overseeing base and non-base CAPEX investment projects for the site that align to business growth plans

  • Provide leadership and in conjunction with Human Resources ensure the site can reach medium and long term goals through an engaged, highly motivated, skilled and diverse workforce

  • Responsible for developing a strong leadership pipeline

  • Lead and develop the plants operational/ reliability/ safety training programmes and embed these across the site

  • Responsible for workforce administration policies, including but not limited to; staffing, training, evaluation, coaching, disciplinary action

  • To focus on continuous improvement (CI) at all times, developing and utilising CI tools and methods

Qualifications

  • A Degree level qualification in a Science or Engineering discipline

  • Established track record in sustained continuous improvement and change management

  • Formal certification in Lean Six Sigma is advantageous but not essential

  • Proven experience leading large teams in a complex manufacturing environment at a senior level (Production Manager, Factory Manager)

  • Excellent leadership skills, able to communicate clear objectives, provide feedback, implement improvements for team and individuals performance

  • Demonstrated change management skills, adaptable to changing business needs, introducing new ways of thinking and behaviors and getting buy in to drive sustained growth and change

  • Comfortable to manage ambiguity and complexity

  • Customer focused and results orientated

  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving and able to execute solutions in a timely manner
