It seems that every job advert these days is full of clichés - challenging role, hit the ground running, great business, award winning business, great culture etc. etc. - but let's be honest often this is never the case and it's just more of the same. However every so often a nugget comes along which is a different, which is challenging and is genuinely working for a great, progressive business - that said it's not going to be easy - but hey what is which is worth doing?!
This food manufacturer is profitable, looking at further acquisitions, currently seeing double digit growth, cannot manufacture enough for an array of customers, has a large number of SKUs all whilst having capacity constraints. They have some fantastic people and some real gems on the shop floor who have demonstrated loyally over a large number of years - there is a lot of unearthed talent to tap into.
So where do you come in? Given the challenges and growth they face they need a proven Senior Ops professional who can be their shining light and be a critical component in taking the business to the next phase of their lifecycle - all this whilst opening up the opportunity for you to become the next Operations Director. Whilst there are an abundance of positives this is without question a role which will challenge you and draw on all the experience you have amassed over your career - but isn't that why you got into Operations and the Food Industry in the first place?!
Within this transformational role you will be a visual leader (no ivory tower here) who is instigating and driving huge cultural change across the team of upwards of 600 people across 3 shifts operating 24/7. With a number of direct reports you will have to strengthen the organisational structure beneath you to enable you to move into a more holistic / strategic role. You will also need to have a full review of the existing process and procedures to ensure they are robust enough for the future challenges and growth. Don't worry though you will not be doing this alone as you will be supported but a highly engaged and driven leadership team who will provide you with the ownership and accountability you require to deliver what is necessary.
Cliché warning but to be considered for this role you really do need a proven track record as Factory Manager / Operations Manager / Manufacturing Manager within the food industry, working in large, fast paced and agile environments. A charismatic and inspirational leader you will be able to demonstrate what good looks like whilst taking all of the team on the journey. I shouldn't have to mention Lean Manufacturing as it's a given you will have these skills in spades and you'll be something of a change agent.
As I've mentioned whilst this really is a fantastic role and opportunity but it will be no walk in the park therefore I am only interested in speaking with the best and those with the strength of character and resolve to see through the necessary changes!
