The Operations Support Manager is a key member of the Wolverhampton team providing support in production/ operational processes to the Operations Manager. The site is a state of the art dedicated production facility, producing value added poultry products. This position provides an exciting opportunity to manage projects to ensure site performance and standards are met. The position holder will proactively identify root causes to problems and help to deliver the site production plan ensuring, safety, quality, cost and personnel objectives are met.  

Main Tasks:

  • Support the site’s compliance with Cargill and legal environmental, health and safety (EHS) standards, championing a culture of ‘zero’ injuries, ensuring employees are educated and trained in the fundamentals of EHS
  • Accountable for supporting the Operations/ Production manager in the delivery of production commitments for the site
  • Monitor operational results (i.e. yields, consumables, efficiencies and cost figures) using information to identify improvements for operational efficiency
  • Support the site’s continuous improvement journey
  • Provide leadership and coaching by influencing the wider team to implement change initiatives
  • identify any engagement issues and work proactively in finding a solution
  • Coach teams to develop and grow them into a skilled, engaged and diverse workforce
  • Seek opportunity to ‘bring the outside in’ to improve best practice for people and operations

 

Qualifications:

  • A Degree level qualification in a Science or Engineering discipline - useful but not essential 
  • Formal certification in Lean Six Sigma is advantageous but not essential
  • Proven experience leading small to medium sized teams in a manufacturing environment, ideally in the food industry
  • Excellent leadership skills, able to communicate clear objectives, provide feedback, implement improvements for team and individuals performance
  • Demonstrated change management skills, adaptable to changing business needs, introducing new ways of thinking and behaviors and getting buy in to drive sustained growth and change
  • Customer focused and results orientated
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving and able to execute solutions in a timely manner
  • Fluent English (both verbal and written)
