The Raw Materials & Production Planner is a key new role within Cargill based in the Wolverhampton site. The site is a state of the art dedicated production facility, producing value added poultry products. The position is responsible for the execution of the short-to-midterm production plan, which is approved by the Master Production Planning MRP Manager in agreement with Factory management. The position holder will build effective relationships with the Wolverhampton factory/ Manufacturing Operations Management, suppliers, Procurement and Finance. The position will provide a challenging opportunity to identify process improvements and drive continuous improvement that will impact on the production and raw material planning for the plant.

Main Tasks:

  • Work effectively with the Master Production Planning and MRP Manager to convert the agreed MPS into a feasible daily production plan which optimises the product sequencing for the items produced in the factory
  • Work with meat, ingredient and packaging suppliers for a ‘just in time’ delivery schedule to the factory
  • Ensure the flow of production by optimising efficiency, capacity and workflow
  • Highlight and troubleshoot issues that cause delay to the schedule and re-work the plan to meet targets
  • Coordinate with maintenance to ensure planned maintenance is added to the master production plan
  • Ensure stock is rotated in line with product shelf life at the factory and offsite warehouses
  • Responsible for data accuracy in SAP and the MRP systems
  • Prepare and distribute KPI reports derived from planning information
  • Review and measure the performance of the plan vs actuals
  • Be actively involved in the weekly review meeting with the factory leadership team
  • Ensure the plan adheres to the commercial budgets and deadlines
  • Manager vendor returns
  • Create and raise purchase orders to procure materials
  • Proactively communicate any production issues that may result in the production plan not being met
  • Work with factory operations in process improvements, such as inventory accuracy, inventory management, process order confirmation and work to define and implement improvements

Qualifications:

  • A Degree level qualification or equivalent
  • Supply Chain Management certification (BSCM APICS) would be useful but not essential
  • Proven work experience in a production planning and material requirements planning position ideally in a manufacturing environment, preferably food manufacturing
  • Understanding of factory, supply chain and commercial operations
  • Proficiency in SAP (for example ECC/R3/S4HANA modules)
  • Advance proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with a focus on advanced Excel functions
  • Demonstrated organisational and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting prioritise
  • Ability to identify relevant information and use this to inform business decisions and influence stakeholders
  • Understanding of Lean/ CI projects within a factory environment would be useful
  • Knowledge of how to use data visualisation and reporting tools (i.e. Business Intelligence, Tableau, Power BI) would be advantageous
  • Able to work as part of a team across different stakeholders and on own initiative and communicate clearly
  • Fluent English (both verbal and written)
