Job Details

Our Client, a leading international manufacturer of chilled convenience foods for the major retailers, is looking for a Sustainability Officer, based at their site in Derbyshire. Reporting to the Head of Sustainability you will provide analysis and insight to support the on-going development and deployment of the sustainability agenda.

Key Accountabilities for the Sustainability Officer are:

  • Reviewing customer sustainability strategies and monitoring external activities
  • Completing supplier risk assessment to support the development and monitoring of the responsible sourcing strategy and ethical compliance
  • Developing and deploying supplier engagement programmes to deliver the responsible sourcing strategy
  • Reviewing current practice and providing guidance to improve the implementation of assured standards for sustainable raw materials
  • Preparing communications materials to promote sustainability credentials both internally and externally
  • Completing and co-ordinating annual returns and reporting for external certification programmes

Essential skills and experience for the Sustainability Officer include:

  • National/professional qualification relevant to the environmental or social pillar of sustainability (or degree calibre with relevant work experience)
  • Understanding of food manufacturing processes
  • Analytical; able to review data and identify trends
  • Demonstrable ability of sharing ideas and building support for change
  • Broad understanding of environmental impacts on the food industry
