Are you a health and safety specialist looking for your next adventure?

My client in North West London is looking for a strong, experienced and brilliant Food Hygiene and Health & Safety Lead for their organisation who can bring about change and take charge of the policies whilst developing with the company.

With a focus on building relationships in and out of the business, the role requires someone with extensive interpersonal skills, an ability to form friendly and professional relationships quickly and communicate effectively with external and internal teams.

You will be responsible for co-ordinating, supporting and assisting all colleagues throughout the business in any H+S related matter as well as ensuring that all accidents are investigated thoroughly, as appropriate, by the relevant department heads or managers.

You will be responsible for providing and analysing statistical data for managers across all divisions of the business. This data should be used to highlight and action where appropriate any areas of concern to aid improvements to be driven.

You will promote guidance and understanding across the business of all health and safety related areas including COSHH, Manual Handling, PPE, DSE, and Health & Hygiene Standards.

In addition, you will be required to co-ordinate the activities of external consultants and divisional leaders.

You will be responsible to provide the relevant support and guidance to department heads / managers to ensure that the appropriate risk assessments are conducted, results are cascaded down to the teams and findings acted upon.

A key part of the role will be conducting H&S audits across all divisions to ensure legal and company system compliance. Results from these audits must be actioned where appropriate.

You will proactively seek out areas of development and create plans to improve in association with the relevant department heads

Manage training ensuring that H&S Induction training is provided to all new employees in all divisions.

You will also be responsible for driving actions against the H&S Strategic Objectives and regularly reporting progress to the Senior Management Team

You will be accountable for ensuring that any project based or other tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively as required by the business.

Key Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

You will live and breathe our company values, have relevant experience and preferably, a degree or equivalent in a related discipline. A knowledge of and passion for good food would be an advantage.

You will also be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and relationship skills, as well as good organisational, planning and prioritisation skills. It is essential for the role holder to be able to influence and manage change as well as the ability to work effectively within a multifaceted team of varying abilities and skills.

The role holder requires good IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft packages as well as good written and numerical skills and you will be able to demonstrate a pragmatic approach to compliance ensuring that the needs of a fast moving dynamic business are supported whilst considering ultimate risk.
