Shift Manager, Hampshire
Food manufacturing with a view - does it matter?
Growing up in the country I am possibly biased, but do you ever hope for a nice, tranquil even, setting at work? Which of the below would you pick?
Scenario A) Trudge to work. Industrial estate. Lots of concrete, noise, more concrete and lorries.
Scenario B) Hop to work (possibly exaggerated, admittedly). Tunnel of trees on the road in. The factory sits in a middle of water based fields that wouldn't look out of place in Asia rice fields. Lake with willow trees at the bottom of the car park.
Scenario B, right? But presumably you wouldn't pick this if it meant sacrificing an enjoyable job with a decent company? And you would be right to think a nice outside view counts for little if the 8 hours you are on shift are spent in a miserable hellhole.
Luckily, this factory is not. You will be working for a European leader in its particular category who are focused on doing things in the right way.
The salary for this role is average. But that is because the work environment is not - you will enjoy going to work and you will be able to do a good job without worrying about commercial issues or office politics.
So, back to the original question - if the answer is scenario B, apply to this job now.
