National Centre for Food Manufacturing

Location:  Holbeach

The National Centre for Food Manufacturing requires a Senior Lecturer to inspire our students and assist the career development of aspiring operations, manufacturing, supply chain and commercial managers in the food industry. You will have significant experience of working within a Commercial Management role in the food manufacturing industry, be practiced in sales/account/category management and have extensive knowledge of the sector’s businesses and their products (both customers labelled and branded products). You will have a passion for developing the leadership and management skills of teams and individuals in the sector as well as for the industry itself. Whilst experience of teaching is highly desirable, it is not essential and the role would suit an appropriately qualified industry professional with management experience who is looking for a change of career and an opportunity to share their knowledge and experience.

A satellite campus of the University of Lincoln, The National Centre for Food Manufacturing is a major resource for the UK’s food industry with over 250 major companies accessing courses, technical services and research.  Our clients include the major national and global food manufacturing businesses and retailers and we collaborate with many international partners and universities. The NCFM has outstanding sector-focused facilities, including a state-of-the-art food factory demonstrating cutting edge food automation.

We are looking for a key individual to undertake teaching and help drive forward our applied research agenda. All of NCFM’s students are employed in the food industry and study on a part-time basis, with distance learning supported by block release the platform for delivery. The post holder will deliver teaching and learning to food industry employees studying predominantly but not exclusively on Higher Education provision (Higher and Degree Apprenticeships, Degrees and postgraduate provision) and on occasions to Apprenticeships and students on short courses. They will be committed to helping students learn and to the continued improvement in teaching practice and the student experience. With our provision underpinned by distance learning, the post holder will need to be IT savvy and open to experimentation in digital learning. They will also build productive relationships with employers to aid recruitment, inform teaching, course development, student progress and new business opportunities.

The post holder will also contribute to the NCFM’s applied research and innovation agenda, supporting the delivery of research projects and practical trials.

As teaching is a key focus, the post is offered on a Teaching and Professional Practice contract. Whilst research is an important element of the role, the post is not suitable for individuals in pursuit of research focused career and REF standing.

Please note that this post requires an Enhanced DBS check.
