Junior Flavourist / Flavour Technologist
My clients are experts in the creation and manufacture of Natural Food Colours and flavours for the Food and Supplements Industries and have exceptional growth targets for the next 5 years. As a result they are looking to strengthen their team and recruit a junior Flavourist / Flavour Technologist with a desire to work in a small and dynamic environment that embraces creative freedom.
The role will offer the right candidate the opportunity to pro-actively create new and improved existing flavours against quality, cost and legislative requests from the customers and for the businesses flavour library.
The role will involve:
·Modify and create flavours using various chemical raw materials,
·Study effect of flavours, including shelf life, stability test, flavour retention test in various applications
·Work with the Senior Flavourist to develop / introduce new innovative materials
·Accurately interpret briefs and provide winning Taste solutions to customers.
·Understand the complex interactions between flavour chemicals and food compounds that drive product taste
·Read & interpret analytical & sensorial data / results in order to formulate flavours
·Understand the effect of industrial processing on finished product taste and how to formulate flavours to withstand these processes
·Prepare and maintain accurate recordkeeping on all assigned projects.
·Utilize good time management skills while working under pressure
Skills / Experience Required
·Experience of working in a flavour laboratory environment either as a samples technician or trainee/junior Flavourist
·Knowledge of raw materials – essential oils and aroma chemicals, weighing and compounding
·Excellent attention to detail
The ideal candidate will be of a 'can do attitude' who is able to communicate effectively at all levels whilst maintaining the ability to “muck in” when required.
