If so, we’d love to hear from you as our client is recruiting a Quality & Food Safety Manager to join their food manufacturing business based in South Wales.

Reporting into group Head of Technical, you will be responsible for the quality and food safety of this factory that supplies not only to all the major supermarkets, but to all retailers. We can guarantee that you will know (and possibly love!) these products as this site produces household branded ambient product so quality & food safety has to be at the forefront of this business.

Key responsibilities for the Quality & Food Safety Manager:

  • To lead and coordinate all quality activities, ensuring products are manufactured to specification.

  • Design & develop the site Technical Strategy, ensuring it is in line with the wider group strategy.

  • Develop and main a robust auditing programme both internally and externally.

  • In a customer facing role, you will be the main point of contact for all customers.

  • Ensure hygiene standards are adhered to.

  • Manage site KPI’s for all aspects of Health & Safety.

Managing a team, this role is key in understanding customer requirements and ensuring that the factory can adhere to this, setting KPI’s across the business and reporting back where necessary, whilst being fully responsible for factory visits and audits. Whilst this is a Monday to Friday job, as with all technical roles, there needs to be some flexibility to allow for the nature of the business and the demands of the customers as well as suppliers.

The perfect candidate for the role of Quality & Food Safety Manager:

  • A degree in a food science subject would be ideal or equivalent experience.
  • Ambient, fresh or chilled food experience is essential.
  • You have been in a customer facing role previously.
  • Great attention to detail is needed.
  • Proactive, the ability to solve problems and prioritise to meet demanding time scales.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills is a must.

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 plus benefits
