My Client is currently seeking a NPD Assistant to assist in supporting the business growth through development of new and current product ranges in response to both internal branded and customer own label briefs. To use a passion & knowledge for food to contribute to a successful & dynamic innovation team. To build an awareness of ingredient & consumer trends and be able to work with the NPD & Commercial teams to translate this into relevant new product concepts that inspire the future innovation pipeline.

The role will support both the NPD Manager & the NPD Technologists in developing kitchen recipes, supporting trials, managing NPD administrative & logistical tasks, as well as having the opportunity to own smaller projects from concept through to launch

The Role will involve:

Working with the NPD team supporting a range of NPD projects. This will include developing benchtop samples, supporting feasibility investigations into new products, supporting factory trials and monitoring of trial product quality
Develop specific agreed projects from development through to launch, with the support of the NPD Manager & NPD Technologist
Assist in the administrative requirements of the NPD function including management of purchase orders, ordering & tracking of consumables & ingredients, management of samples in the chilled hub, managing couriers for samples to customers and for external testing
Support NPD Manager & NPD Technologist in the management of customer submission processes including document completion and preparation of tasting forms, powerpoint slides etc

Skills / Experience Required:

·Degree or equivalent in a Food Science / Food Technology / Nutrition
·Previous experience of an NPD role within a chilled food business (ideally 6-12m, but graduates looking for their first role will also be considered)
·ICT skills to include Microsoft Office packages particularly Excel (essential), Powerpoint (essential)
·Strong communication skills (written and verbal) including being comfortable when communicating to internal & external audiences
·Strong numeracy skills – GCSE (or equivalent) Maths
·Co-ordination, planning & organisational skills
·Curious & passionate about food
