An exciting opportunity to join the team at Bakkavor Meals London as an Employee Relations Manager.
To develop and deliver the organisations’ employment relations strategy in conjunction with the HR Operations Managers and Business Partners to establish a high engagement culture.
Accountabilities of the Role:-
Defuse and resolve workplace conflict through mediation, avoiding escalation through formal/legal processes wherever possible. High volume ER case management across 4 business units (2,500 permanent employees) in a unionised environment.
Advises the organisation on measures required to ensure compliance with prevailing employment legislation.
Measures employee engagement and utilise data to develop improvement plans in partnership with the leadership team.
Establish a productive working relationship with the GMB union, trade union and SEF representatives and identify opportunities to partner with them to deliver engagement/wellbeing initiatives.
Reduce the risk of litigation by proactively managing conflict situations to resolve these via a consensus seeking approach where possible.
Work closely with legal partners and relevant internal stakeholders to prepare for and defend Employment Tribunal claims.
Analyse employee relations trends, provide periodic detailed reports, and propose methods for improvement
Provides guidance and interpretation to managers, supervisors, and employees regarding laws, regulations, policies, procedures and practices.
Provide line managers with the requisite skills to resolve workplace conflict through informal interventions and formal measures e.g. chairing disciplinary/grievance meetings.
Ideal candidate:- Meets the requirements of the accountabilities. Must have previous HR and Managerial Experience.

English Literacy and Numeracy Skills
Have previous experience of working in the food industry and of leading a team of 6 colleagues or more. Experience in the use of key performance indicators to improve both personal and team performance
The Skilled Operative or team leader will: Be enthusiastic and conscientious, able to lead a processing line monitoring performance, Carry out critical checks and traceability paperwork, Proactively support both the section manager and team operatives, Be happy working a Continental shift pattern (up to 12 hours), Be comfortable wearing personal protective equipment and working in a factory environment.
