SHE Manager, South Lincolnshire
This position is potentially quite tricky and not for everyone - could you succeed in this role?
"Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in event of success" - Ernest Shackleton
Firstly, as a H&S Manager, the above work environment probably sends a cold shiver down your spine (please excuse the pun).
This advert is not recruiting for a polar exploration to the Antarctic. The wage is good (you will also get an industry leading car allowance/car and two bonuses on top of this). Hours are 8.30am - 5.00pm Monday - Friday. Certainly you would expect a safe return.
However, there are a few similarities. It is working in a cold environment. Critically, this role has perhaps not been focused on significantly over the last 4-5 years meaning that honour and recognition will be available should you be successful. It won't be the easiest H&S job you apply to. There is a culture piece that needs you to consider. However, changes are already underway within the business and significantly, there is a lot of "low hanging fruit" for you to be able to quickly look at and improve.
You should ideally have your NEBOSH diploma. However, most important is your ability to engage with a large factory and put H&S on the map. You will be asked to demonstrate this from previous roles at interview. Food/drink manufacturing is ideal but any manufacturing/logistics background will be considered should you be able to demonstrate the above.
Please apply to this role today and bring your sledge...
