Engineering Team Leader

Location:  Based in Avonmouth

Type of role: Full Time, Permanent

Reporting to: Process Control & Systems Engineer

Hovis Limited is a vertically integrated baking and flour milling business currently operated by The Gores Group as part of a stand-alone joint venture. The Company was created in April 2014 to help release new investment to upgrade its operational infrastructure and reinvigorate the Hovis brand, building on its rich heritage. Nish Kankiwala our new CEO brings a wealth of commercial and marketing experience from previous roles with Unilever, Pepsico and Burger King.  

A great opportunity has arisen at Hovis we're looking for an Engineering Team Leader at our site in Avonmouth.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide primary leadership to a team of shift engineers, managing the focus of the allocated engineering team on the agreed priorities. To ensure the best possible resolve is achieved to those issues experienced, in order to meet the performance requirements of the Bakery production schedules. To manage planned and unplanned absence of shift team and ensure that staff are utilised effectively to deliver daily work plans.

To be part of a team providing essential maintenance operations, whilst maintaining Health & Safety and Food Safety Standards, in order to provide maximum manufacturing efficiency on  site.

To carry out effective shift handover and produce detailed Engineering shift report at the end of shift.

KNOWLEDGE & SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS

Essential

  • HNC/HND/Apprentice qualified or Equivalent
  • PLC – Siemens/ Bradley (Desirable)
  • Exceptional  Hovis/Bread or FMCG supply chain experience will be considered in lieu of educational qualifications
  • High IT literacy
  • Agility and Capability to communicate and engage at all levels of the organisation- from ‘bakery floor to top floor’
  • Exceptional Communicator with verbal and numerate skills
  • Hands on experience of Coaching/Mentoring and Knowledge Transfer process
  • Training skills in imparting knowledge and facilitating groups
  • Analytical thinker using Data to drive action
  • Action oriented and energetic
  • Ability to build effective teams
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering improvement programs within Engineering
