Job Description

Bakkavor Salads has a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Section Manager to join their expanding team at their site in Bourne, Lincolnshire.
Job Purpose

Using Continuous Improvement techniques and tools (e.g. PIPs, team result plans, value stream mapping, line balancing and problem solving etc) ensure that targets are met and regularly challenged and improved on.  Delivering high standards of quality, ensuring product produced is to customer specification in line with site CCP, GMP and Health and Safety through your team.  Ensure you and your team demonstrate and foster a culture which encourages Continuous Improvement and the Bakkavör Values.

Must Haves

 Experience of managing a multi-functional business. Proven track record of delivering change through continuous improvement initiatives and techniques within your team. To be able to demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills. To be able to demonstrate the Bakkavör Values. In depth knowledge of the food industry or FMCG. Must be adaptable and flexible to working hours and areas. Chilled food experience and knowledge. 


Be able to demonstrate experience of working closely and effectively with support functions including Engineering, Planning, Technical and HR. Experience of managing a multi-functional business. CMS/DMS or similar management qualification

Role Accountabilities

Health & Safety - To pro-actively manage to ensure that a safe working environment exists for all employees in the operation and that as a minimum the operation meets the standards set out in the Group Health & Safety policy.

Quality Standards - To lead and drive standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping within your area through Good Manufacturing Practice (G.M.P.) to ensure that both Business and customer standards are kept and audit requirements are fully met.

Performance Management - To appropriately manage the performance of all team members including section managers through the use of Bakkavor performance managements systems (i.e. appraisal) and, if necessary, to impose disciplinary sanctions in accordance with Company policy through to dismissal stage.

Proven track record of delivering change through continuous improvement initiatives and techniques within your team.

NPD Process – manages the NPD process within their area of responsibility to ensure that all trials run successfully and through to product launch

Performance Improvement through use of KPIs – Challenges and introduces new KPIs to drive performance. Ensures Team delivers agreed KPIs across the operation Ensuring systems are in place to collect the necessary data to measure performance against the agreed KPIs. Develops and implements PIPs and identifies areas for improvement.

Resource Management - Plan, organise and measure labour and material requirements within their area to ensure that both short- and long- term agreed targets are met.

Communication – Manages the communication process in their area to ensure that the workforce in their area is well informed on relevant business news and to encourage effective cross-functional links and that channels of communication are clear and available.

To be able to demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.

Employee Relations – Supports and encourages the Bakkavör values and a positive culture within their area, whilst fostering good employee relations through fair, consistent and effective people management. Supports an effective SEF representation structure in their area
