Bakkavor are one of the leading manufacturers in the production of fresh food. We specialise in making and developing private label prepared foods for the top global grocery retailers and well-known international foodservice operators.   

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Bakkavor Salads for a Development Technologist.  This role will be based at their food manufacturing site in Bourne, Lincolnshire.

Your role will be to develop products from initial concept to hand over to the process development team to expected timescales and margins and to support the process development team until launch.

Is it essential that you have a flair and genuine interest for food and new product development. This will be coupled with experience of working in a product development team, preferably within the chilled food industry. 

Ideally you will have graduated from university or currently be on an AMS scheme.  You will be an effective communicator with the ability to compile meaningful and accurate information/presentations.  A clean driving licence is essential as the role does involve some travel.

You role accountabilities will include being responsible for developing concepts to meet agreed timings, whilst complying with specified BRC quality standards.  You will innovate new product, packaging and process concepts to continue the growth of a creative catalogue of products for customers, within required margins.

You will manage and maintain the product development procedures files to ensure accurate data logging and recording, to enable all members of the team to access current information.  Ensuring the process development, production and technical teams have all the relevant information for product launches and to provide support throughout the launch.

You will have an overall awareness of comparative products from all major retailers and be able to plan, organise and control resources to deliver concepts to an agreed quality and time scale.

Monitor product quality of new and existing products for the customers you are responsible for, and manage bench marking session. 

You will be responsible for making up samples for customer presentations / visits.
