Procurement and Key Account Manager

About us

Valley Produce Ltd grow and pack fresh herbs and oriental vegetables for retailers, processors and the food service sector

During the summer months we grow the majority of what we sell, but we still have to source from other growers to fulfil orders

During the winter season we rely on our overseas suppliers to carry on packing all year round

The role

We are looking for a Procurement Manager to oversee all summer and winter purchasing. Following the supply plan laid out you will ensure orders are placed with suppliers and stocks are managed on a day to day basis

You will need to build up a relationship with our suppliers. Placing orders, managing delivery schedules and discussing the procurement plan

As well as working with existing suppliers there will be an opportunity to develop new supply lines and some foreign travel may be involved 

You will also be responsible for managing some of the key accounts that run twelve months of the year, dealing with day to day orders, queries and quality expectations

  • Arranging order and intake for Raw materials to meet production requirements within stockholding criteria
  • To be the main point of contact for any supplier delivers and queries
  • Managing the supplier assets and returns process
  • Reconciling financials with accounts.
  • Providing strategic input for seasonal planning
  • Identifying cost saving opportunities
  • Avoiding unnecessary waste levels due to over stocking
  • Managing the designated customer accounts

About you

  • Previous Material Planning experience, ideally within an FMCG manufacturing facility
  • Transport Planning or 3rd Party haulage experience desired
  • Knowledge and understanding of MRP systems
  • Stock management or scheduling tool experience
  • Analytical skills with the ability to analyse and evaluate data
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Word and Excel
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise differing demands
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
