We are a privately family owned, Fresh Food manufacturer & grower making an impact on the FMCG market. Our organisation is family owned, and has been since 1965. We are a fast-paced, exciting, dynamic company and due to rapid successful growth our organisation is seeking a new exciting addition to the Commercial Team, based at our Howden growing and packing site in the heart of East Yorkshire.

The Commercial Team

Our small & growing, newly formed Commercial Team are looking for full time, Category Manager for their expanding and mushroom growing business based in the heart of East Yorkshire. Our Commercial Team are essential for our business and are a hardworking, loyal and friendly team with the motivation, tenacity and drive to sell our products and production capacity to high profile retailers throughout the UK.

They work incredibly hard together and alongside other teams within the business to achieve the targets required to drive our business forward. This role ensures our business flourishes and we are on target to achieve our mission and strategy.  The team put the customer first and service levels are strongly monitored to ensure they are hit with the highest standard of product delivered, alongside working in partnership with the customer to empower their sales strategies within their chosen categories.  The team are supportive and most importantly, have a passion for the business we operate. They strive for the best food quality and safety standards throughout the process and are always on the look-out for improving processes within their areas. The Role

You will have excellent communication skills and be able to strike up conversation with your Customers to develop a strong relationship. You will utilise these strong relationships and provide our customers with insights regarding our products and the category they operate within.

You will have experience of building long-term strategical plans for development and assisting in the increase in the sales revenue of the business.  You will have extensive experience of managing profitable accounts and have a proven track record of strong account management for a range of retail customers throughout the UK. You will have proven experience of writing strategies and experience of ensuring businesses retains their reputation for a highly reputable service level.

You will have experience of writing customer sales and forecasts as well as costing models, and be a key influencer with internal and external contacts. You will be able to assist in the creation of weird and wonderful sales strategies tailored to the needs of the customers’ needs.

You will know how to expand customers portfolio of products and have such a strong relationship with them that they will come to you to help drive their category forward as being innovators in the sector. You will manage national accounts and be willing to travel throughout the UK and Northern Ireland on a regular basis. 

You will present new product recommendations to peers within the customer organisation to influence their decision-making to adopt the strategies & plans and follow the retailers’ cycles of the category marketing process to ensure that all plans have been correctly assessed, approved and implemented.

When in doubt, you will not be afraid to seek clarification from your fellow work colleagues and your Line Manager. You will also assist other teams and their work colleagues with their queries and buddy and coach new starters to ensure you empower your work colleagues.  You will not be afraid of challenging people, reeducating people where new products are being developed. You will also integrate into the wider Production / Planning and Technical teams ensuring you develop strong internal relationships with department leaders.

Ideally, you will be degree educated, have a full UK Driving licence and be willing to put the hours in to make the business work.

The Hours

Monday to Friday but you must understand the food industry and as such may be required to resolve customer issues at the weekend and out of your core hours of work. As such an element of your salary contains overtime.

40 hours a week, with half hour for lunch unpaid.

Two fifteen minute breaks paid.

£dependent on experience + bonus + car / car allowance.
