Job Purpose:

  • To operate automatic packing production lines (machines) ensuring the product safety, quality volume and hygiene targets are achieved on a daily basis.
  • To present yourself for training and inspection as required
  • Lead and support the team working on the line as required

Key Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • To carry out pre start-up safety, hygiene checks required for the production line before starting the line
  • Set the machine to production recipes
  • Prepare raw materials for production
  • Replenish packaging to the production line during the shift including the stacking of boxes or consumable items like glue and labels etc.
  • Replace films and replenish on line during production
  • Complete and maintain correct documentation for each product run
  • Complete and record quality and CCP checks on line as per defined intervals
  • Manual handling including the stacking of finished goods
  • Maintain the hygiene of equipment during and after the job is completed
  • Replenish the line with pallets or other materials needed for production
  • Record downtime
  • Resolve machine stoppages promptly
  • Achieve OEE and waste targets
  • Feedback to the Shift Supervisor and Production Manager as necessary
  • Work as part of a team
  • To ensure the safety of oneself and others at all times
  • Maintain health and safety and adhere to health and safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Contribute to and help implement continuous improvement, so as to enhance quality, efficiency, safety and waste reduction
  • Help & assist in the training of others and identify own training needs
  • Any other reasonable duties, responsibility or requests that may be issued by Management from time to time.

Person Specification:

Experience:

  • Experience of working within the food sector
  • Experience of plant or machine operations

Knowledge:

  •  A certificate in basic food hygiene
  •  Safe manual handling practices

Skills:

  • Health and safety awareness skills
  • The ability to follow instructions and use own initiative
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Good team working skills
  • Flexible
