Bakery Operative

Location:  Based in Bradford

Type of role: Full Time, Permanent

Reporting to: Front Line Manager Manufacturing

You will be required to contribute to an efficient, customer focused, manufacturing process through the effective operation of plant, equipment and systems.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

ROTATION ON ALL TASKS WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT IS REQUIRED

Plant

  • Sieving ingredients for your shift and the following shift
  • Weighing and preparing ingredient for mixing
  • Mixing ingredients – Following all Standard Operating Procedures and Safe Systems of Work
  • Working on the lines to ensure product meets all company and customers specification
  • Ensuring all quality attributes are met and all food safety controls are carried out – Critical Control Points
  • Report all issues that arise throughout your shift
  • Clean as you go

 Slicing area

  • Packing and stacking product as per company and customer specification
  • Manually packing wrapped product into baskets
  • Manual intervention of the wrapping machines when required to ensure the product is wrapped correctly
  • Working of the wrapping machines and changing product packaging over if and when required
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures and Safe Systems of Work
  • Ensuring all quality attributes are met and all food safety controls are carried out – Critical Control Points
  • Report all issues that arise throughout your shift
  • Clean as you go

 People/Team

  • Work with your colleagues on shift and other shifts to drive improvements in all aspects of the roll
  • To support the FLM’s in developing continuous improvement
  • Encourage teamwork and a supporting environment in order to improve business performance
  • Carry out all training as and when required as the roll develops and changes are implemented

KNOWLEDGE & SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS

Essential

Good communication skills at all levels

Previous experience in manufacturing or food handling environment

Desirable

Ability to work on own initiative

Be adaptable, flexible and demonstrate a willingness to accept changes in operational requirements at short notice

Knowledge of baking industry

Food Hygiene Trained
