Position: Demand Planner

Based: Pontefract  

Reports to: Demand Planning Manager

Salary: £35-40k + benefits

Summary of Role

The Demand Planner is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers and products; creating and maintaining forecast models for customers, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing and other sources.

Key accountabilities

  • Develop demand forecasts across the business at material, product group or customer levels
  • Review historical sales trends and understand key demand drivers
  • Develop statistical forecast models and evaluate results
  • Work with the Sales, Marketing and directly with key customers to understand forecast drivers & future demand
  • Provide input into the demand review meetings in line with the S&OP timetable
  • Closely co-ordinate and communicate customer action plans with Supply Planning
  • Create statistical forecasts,
    • Gather analysis
    • Apply & review the statistical forecast results
    • Summarise and report at appropriate levels within the business
    • Drive improvements in forecast accuracy
  • Review sales and promotional plans with Commercial, Marketing and Supply Chain
  • Work with Supply Chain and Customer Service to achieve order fulfilment
  • Provide input into volume planning to facilitate the budget process
  • Maintain the demand planning software and data quality


In order to succeed in this role, it is expected that you will have:

  • Strong skills in Microsoft: Excel & PowerPoint and/or an ERP system
  • Numerate with strong analytical or financial skills
  • Potential to be developed further within the company
  • Self motivated & disciplined
  • Minimum of five years supply chain experience in a FMGC sector
  • High customer service principles
  • Good communication and cross functional skills
