We are looking to appoint a Technical Services Manager to maintain and drive our site technical compliance in technical services.

Your new company

Bakkavor is focused solely on manufacturing fresh prepared foods, one of the most advanced, innovative and dynamic food markets in the world.

Our core market is the UK and if you shop in any of the UK major grocery retailers you are more than likely to have bought one of our products - but are less likely to be familiar with our company name. This is because the vast majority of the products we make are marketed under the private-label brands of our customers. As well as the UK, we also supply fresh prepared products in the US and China.

The products we make are prepared ready to eat, ready to reheat or ready to cook. We make them just like they’re made at home, starting with high-quality ingredients, carefully selected from growers, our own farms and from suppliers we trust.

We operate to a 'just-in-time' model, manufacturing to tight deadlines. We often deliver on large orders within 24 hours, 364 days a year, keeping products chilled throughout the process – this takes a lot of planning and teams of dedicated people who are passionate about the foods we make.

If you share our passion for great food and our strong values you can expect us to give you opportunities, development and support to enable your career to grow.

Working at Bakkavor isn’t just about having a job; it’s about choosing a company where you can develop a career.

Your new role

This is an independent role, you will need to be a self-motivator and you have your own area of expertise, which can drive the Technical KPIs successfully. Ensure that raw material compliance is regularly reviewed and approval status is maintained and to ensure information required during 3rd party/customer audits is maintained and available.

HACCP – ensure that there is a systematic, comprehensive system that is implemented and maintained. It is reviewed and updated annually and / or in line with changes to process, equipment or product. Involvement in the evaluation of risks prior to the introduction of and establishment of controls of a new process, product or raw material.

Specifications - Effectively manage the completion of finished product specifications to meet critical path and/or customer requirements ensuring right first time.

Non-Conformances - Effectively manage non-conformances and Customer Complaints which relate to materials ensuring that these are logged, notified to the supplier as appropriate for investigation, with effective response action in a timely manner.

Communication and Ownership - Positively communicate technical issues and updates by the most appropriate communication channels. To collate information relating to food issues / scares and similar events and communicate to Technical Management Team and other key business interfaces as required.

Customer Complaints - Lead the complaints reduction initiative for the site, encouraging input and commitment from others and agreeing action plans which are then published and monitored for completion and effectiveness.

Teamwork - Support the Technical Manager, Quality Manager and Compliance Manager where help is needed.

Compliance - Be familiar with Compliance issues and organisation so that urgent requests can be dealt with in the absence of the Compliance Manager e.g. unannounced audit if Compliance Manager not on site.
