A leading FMCG Manufacturer is currently recruiting for a Strategic Procurement Manager (Supply Chain) to lead, manage and drive assigned manufacturing operations to contribute to overall performance objectives. This Procurement Manager role will also be accountable for achieving outstanding quality, customer focus, costs and service levels as well as continuous operational improvement projects.

Strategic Procurement Manager responsibilities include:

Implement and on an on-going basis suggest improvements to procurement policies, to support the Supply Chain function so that it is considered a centre of excellence within site and recognised as a good example of best practice externally.
Implement and on an on-going basis suggest improvements to procurement policies, procedures and processes to ensure consistency of approach across site and continuous improvement
Actively manage assigned external manufacturing relationships ensuring that site is considered a preferred customer
Develop, present and manage assigned suppliers capital budgets and forecasts in line with the anticipated future business demands
Report on at least monthly basis to the Head of Supply Chain to enable him/her to update Board
Support projects as required by the Head of Supply Chain to ensure company needs are met
Approve new suppliers (using a robust and diligent process) with secondary sources put in place where possible to mitigate supply risk.
Actively manage supplier relationships ensuring that appropriate contracts are agreed, performance is measured and that they are good, reliable sources of supply and information.
Consolidate major purchases to secure the best possible pricing by leverage
Produce and monitor material budgets to enable the Company to assess potential profit margins
Lead, develop and motivate employees with a range of experience levels to increase functions efficiency, cost management and service delivery
Provide team with professional input on individual and group basis to enable them to develop their skills and improve the function’s performance
Required to make decisions within remit above and to escalate issues with significant risk/implication to the Head of Supply Chain
Manage the companies Approved Supply List and ensure the process for companies entering onto and remaining on this list is robust and in line with regulatory requirement

You will be a Procurement Manager ideally with Supply Chain Management experience and be used to operating within a large FMCG Manufacturing environment. You will ideally be degree qualified in a relevant technical / commercial discipline with a proven track record in leadership experience. You will be an analytical thinker with experience to resolve complex problems.
A Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) qualification or Six Sigma (ideally green/black belt) will be deemed advantageous.
