Job location: Liverpool (Brocklebank)

Cargill’s portfolio of refined vegetable oils allows our customers in food manufacturing, retail, catering and food services to create a wide range of tasty and nutritious food products. We partner with our customers to develop innovative products and solutions together to help them meet their consumer’s requirements.

We are looking to appoint a skilled and experienced Project Manager who will have full responsibility for the implementation of the CAPEX/ Project plan at the Brocklebank, Seaforth and S2 sites. All projects must be delivered safely, on-time and within budget.

Main Tasks:

  • Full responsibility for the generation and implementation of the site CAPEX plan
  • The identification, prioritisation and realisation of projects with project value of up to $5m
  • Responsibility for up to 5 projects simultaneously with a maximum total project value of $10m
  • Implement projects within the agreed scope, on- time and within budget and to assist in the development of the site strategy
  • Manage any variation in project spend
  • To utilise technical skills and project management experience to lead and coordinate project activities and identify opportunities to develop new project scopes
  • Design and specification of the plant and plant equipment
  • Commissioning to ensure strong technical engineering output in the projects and delivery of CAPEX justification
  • Ensure proper implementation of the corporate engineering best practices and ensure alignment between design specification and Cargill best practice
  • Lead a project engineering team comprised of both permanent staff and third party contractors
  • Ensure contractors are fully trained on site requirements, safety procedures and regulations and that their progress is effectively managed
  • To ensure alignment between operational requirements and design specifications  
  • Participate in an ‘on call’ rotation
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) procedures and standards, as well as environmental permits
  • Undertake HAZAN/ HAZOP’s


  • Degree  in a relevant subject; mechanical, chemical, process engineering and or project management or equivalent
  • Engineering chartership is preferred 
  • Experience in process design, project engineering and HAZOP leadership
  • A hands- on approach to project work and a proven track record in successful project delivery (safe, on- time and within budget)
  • The ability to lead and develop multi-disciplined teams with a track record of delivering objectives and influencing ability 
  • Strong communication skills working with diverse, cross functional teams
  • Strong organisational skills, multi-tasking and project planning skills with the ability to pro-actively prioritise and consistently execute at a high standard
  • Demonstrates sound judgement, logic and decisiveness
