An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Technical Services Manager to join a major international Food Manufacturing company at their base in West Sussex.
Reporting into the Technical Manager, the Successful candidate will have experience of Food Processing and ideally will have worked with Ambient products. One of the main functions of this role will be to build, retain and develop strong relationships with customers both internal and external, and to provide guidance in raising quality control and quality assurance standards. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills when dealing with both customers and suppliers. They will also need to show they have the ability to lead discussions positively and have the capabilities to resolve any issues by taking the lead role in the resolution of issues.
Main functions of the role will include but are not limited to:
*Work with Technical Manager in arranging and supporting all site Technical visits. Co-ordinate any site presentations as necessary. Create visit reports , support Technical Manager in sites in corrective actions and close out actions.
*Completion of gap analyses against key customer policies in preparation of audits and to help drive the continuous improvement agenda across the site. Working closely with the QA Manager and the management team to ensure any identified gaps are closed and appropriately documented within the QMS
*Drive and support the delivery of key customer-related NPD projects to ensure agreed project deadlines are met.
*To work closely with the group technical team at head office and communicate effectively key customer information / issues to the business.
*Ensure customer KPIs and reports are delivered in line with customer demands. Follow-up and close out of actions from audits and customer queries in line with response times
*Maintain customer systems as appropriate including audit close-out, KPI reports, complaints, incident alerts and policy updates. Ensuring all customer web portals are consistently up-to-date with all relevant site information e.g. contacts
*Through effective management of Specifications Technologists and SAP Data Co-ordinator ensure customer product specifications & artwork are completed and approved in a timely manner ensuring compliance with any legal or compositional requirements and customer policy demands.

The Ideal Candidate will have the following:

*Degree level qualification in food technology or other food related subject.
*Excellent working knowledge of key customer Codes of Practice & Policy to ensure Princes compliance and alignment within the Food Safety and Quality Management Systems
*Formal qualification in HACCP.
*Formal qualification in Food Safety / Quality System auditing.

*Formal training in thermal processing technologies and microbiological thermal de-activation.
*Formal training in microbiological management with particular reference to food pathogens.

In addition to the above the candidate will be managing a team of 3 and will need to have good man management experience.
