Occupational Health Advisor

Job Purpose: 

To ensure employees are meet all food safety and pre and post-employment standards.  Ensuring employees are fit for work/role, pre-employment screening of agency and permanent staff.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Drives the Occupational Health service forward in line with business requirements, codes of practice and new legislation. Works closely with other OH professional bodies across Bakkavor Sites.
  • Work closely with all internal customers, Line Managers, HR, SHE Manager and employees to provide an OH service which meets their needs, works within Bakkavor procedures, current legislation and recommended codes of practice
  • Manage OH spends to work within budget. To identify necessary equipment, sundry spends at budgetary preparation stage. To identify and deliver opportunities to reduce costs without risk to the service
  • Advise on Health and Safety matters, undertake risk assessments and work within current Health and Safety guidelines and promote best practice

Must Haves:

  • Qualified EN/RGN

  • Experience in occupational Health – minimum 18 months

  • First Aider qualified and up to date

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills & presentation skills

  • IT skills – able to use PC – Windows based and word processor

  • Flexible in hours of work – able to work between across a variety of shifts

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Confidence in own ability and decision making

  • Awareness of current occupational health legislation i.e. H&S/Employment Law
