Quality Assurance/Facilities Manager

Natural Instinct is a premium manufacturer and retailer of raw dog and cat food based on the BARF principle.  Raw meats are sourced from mainstream producers of food for human consumption and consists of chicken, turkey, tripe, beef, lamb and salmon.  Vegetables and fruit are sourced from suppliers who supply local hospitals, shops and restaurants.  We only use human grade good quality ingredients.

We are looking to create a new position that requires a good knowledge of manufacturing and/or the pet food industry.

An on the factory floor role working alongside the Production Manager.

  • Quality Control including adherence to our HACCP plan
  • Plant Health & Safety
  • Process Improvement
  • Overall responsibility for the maintenance and servicing of all machinery
  • Building Maintenance and Repair

The key day to day tasks of the Quality Assurance/Factory Manager include:

  1. To report to the MD
  2. Work closely with a Hungarian Production and Packing Team, provide a bridge between them and the office staff
  3. To work closely with the Production Manager
  4. Monitor qualities of incoming goods
  5. Ensure that the manufactured products technically comply with company, customer and legislative requirements
  6. Develop, maintain and promote the QA culture through auditing, training and development of operations staff
  7. To assist in developing new manufacturing processes in order to maintain and increase efficiency and high product quality standards
  8. To devise and co-ordinate internal audits, good manufacturing (pet food) and hygiene audits to achieve necessary end results
  9. To monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed
  10. To be responsible for overseeing the cleaning, maintenance and servicing of equipment
  11. To monitor product standards and implement quality-control programmes
  12. To work with managers to implement the company's policies and goals
  13. To ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed
  14. To identify training needs

The Candidate:

  1. Good track record in quality assurance/facilities management/maintenance of machinery and building or related role within manufacturing or the pet food industry
  2. Ideally educated to Degree level
  3. Engineering qualifications an advantage
  4. High attention to detail, personable with excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  5. Practical, flexible and systematic in problem solving and developing new systems
  6. Comfortable in a highly dynamic friendly and sometimes informal environment
