Role: Business Unit Manager

Package: £40,000 to £45,000 and package (DOE)
Our client is a major player in ornamental horticulture and is clearly established in the UK with strong relationships with all of their customers. Due to continued growth they are now looking for a Business Unit Manager to manage and develop an important and growing part of their business.

Reporting in to the Managing Director, this role is effectively to run a business within a business. There will be an element of selling and presenting to customers, however the role will predominantly involve working with the design team to create attractive and commercial ranges of products and then delivering these to the customers on time and in full.
You will need to have first class communication and negotiation skills. You will be skilled in managing a critical path process, of working with the procurement and production teams to create delivery schedules and then ultimately delivering to the customer what they want when they want it.

This is a significant growth area for the business and the role will be fast paced and challenging, but is a great opportunity for someone to really drive this part of the business and make a success of it.

Ideally you will have experience of horticulture, you may be working within a nursery or garden centre operation but want the challenge and rewards of taking a relatively small sector and making a real success of it. Either way you will have good communication skills, a knowledge of horticulture, have good organisation and communication skills and a real drive to succeed.

This is an all-encompassing role, leading the Procurement, Development and Sales teams on site to deliver a market leading product through each stage of development and sale. You will be overseeing the day to day contact and liaison with the customers as well as developing a business and product development strategy to fully exploit all the opportunities available.

Strong communication and leadership skills are a must, combining this with drive and a commercial flair for innovation to get the most out of your team and market. My client wants someone who is tough, tenacious with strong commercial, horticulture and team management skills and who will be able to make an immediate impact.

This is a great opportunity to work for an established business which has ambitious plans for the future, where you will be able to make a major contribution.
