Our client is one of the largest suppliers to UK retail of food and fresh produce. They are looking to strengthen their technical team with a Technical Services Manager. Someone to Lead and manage the Technical Services Team, developing their knowledge and experience to provide a world class service to internal and external customers.

*To ensure that systems are in place to confirm that finished product specifications accurately reflect the supply base.
*To manage and develop the Quality Management System across the entire business ensuring that all QMS documentation is up to date, relevant and appropriately controlled.
Including the development of new policy's and procedures as required.
*To establish and maintain a review process of legislation, customer codes of practice. This includes the review of compliance and implementation of corrective action plans to the Technical & Operational teams to drive continuous improvement and best practice across site.
*To establish and maintain a process of internal auditing against the QMS to ensure compliance and to facilitate external audits.
*To manage Customer Complaints effectively ensuring all complaints are logged, investigated and trended as appropriate with effective responses completed in a timely manner.
*To ensure all customer & site KPI reports are completed in an accurate, efficient and timely manner whilst meeting customer and site requirements.
*To effectively manage the completion of finished product specifications to meet critical path. The specifications must consistently meet customer and legal labeling requirements along with all artwork derived from the pack copy.
*To positively communicate technical issues and updates by the most appropriate communication channels. To collate horizon scanning information relating to food issues / scares and similar events and communicate to Technical Management Team and other key business interfaces as required.
*To ensure that a HACCP based food safety management system is in place and understood to meet Food Safety, Quality and Legality, and customer specified requirements.
*To manage systems to ensure that data within coding verification, printing and labeling systems is accurate and up to date. To schedule and deliver changes to coding verification and Line Release Sheets in line with promotional changes to ensure that production is conducted in line with commercial instructions.
*To ensure that a controlled system of corrective action management is in place that addresses root cause and promotes continuous improvement.
*To ensure that site pest management systems are in place and that corrective action is taken to resolve issues in line with the site team and the pest control service provider.
*To operate in a safe working manner and support the site/business on continuous improvement relating to health, safety and the environment

*Minimum of 2 years' experience within a Technical sphere / Qualification in Food Science / Technology / working previously within a Technical Services role would be advantageous
*Experience of managing a team and developing their skills
*Good practical working knowledge of Quality Management Systems / HACCP & Customer Codes of Practice and the ability to conduct gap analysis
*Ability to communicate at all levels both written and verbal to gain commitment
*Passionate, resilient, decisive and commercially astute, has the flexibility to work different work patterns where required
*Attention to detail is key with the ability to deliver on time every time
*Experience of risk assessment and supplier auditing
*An appreciation of Food Legislation
*Good IT skills are essential
