Head of HR, Food Manufacturing, Hampshire
Great career opportunity for an HR professional to take a successful international business through its next stage of growth.
Sitting on the senior Executive Team and reporting into the Managing Director, you will need to bring a pragmatic "Can Do" attitude that places HR at the centre of the operation. This is no way a service function type of role; HR needs to be driving the agenda to ensure the growth plans are achieved through a well motivated and skilled workforce at all levels. As part of the business leadership team you will need to be highly influential at peer group level, bringing both strategic and tactical experience to your formulation and delivery of the HR plan. Our client is keen to source a true HR generalist who has worked in a manufacturing environment, not necessarily food but that would be desirable. This is an environment that is exceptionally fast paced with a customer focused dedication that puts real strain on the production and supply chain process, so everyone needs to be operating at full capacity; as a result a well developed Learning & Development programme is in place and needs further enhancement.
There is a small HR team reporting in to the Head of HR to cover all three sites, and there is an opportunity to re-organise the HR team structure to fit with your plan and how best to achieve success. As a person you need to be calm and considered, but also results driven and very involved in what's happening on a daily basis. This is not an environment where the senior managers are remote from the day to day; you need to be happy getting amongst the detail, supporting and mentoring colleagues and leading your team in a highly visible manner.
Why would this role be of interest to you? If you are an HR professional who has good strong understanding of the generalist mix from a production environment, then this will be for you. However, what makes this role different and exciting is the size and scope of the challenge as this organisation enters a two year period of real change and growth. The MD and Board need someone who can be a truly influential Head of HR, bringing strategic acumen to the management resource, an operational understanding to peer group colleagues, and a real energy to the re-definition of the HR function. Being part of an international group there is some need to travel, at least three trips to the US each year for example, and possibly some European travel, but not to any great level that might cause disruption at home.
As a career development move, this role could add immeasurable value to your CV and skills set. You might already have been operating at this level, or you might see this as an exciting aspirational challenge; either way for the right HR professional this is going to be such a great opportunity.
So if you are interested please send your CV and remuneration details.
