Production Team Leader
Our client a prominent food manufacturer values people and rewards hard work and reliability through training, development and progression. Many of our internal managers have started on the shop floor and worked their way up. This is ideal as it ensures our management team have done the role and so understand the daily challenges that can arise in a large production environment.
Reporting to the Department Manager you will be tasked with ensuring your area achieves key performance indicators including, minimal accidents and incidents, production targets, labour usage and allocation against the plan, maximising yield and minimising wastage, minimising the risk of customer complaints through ensuring product quality is maintained. Working closely with your manager you will be mentored and coached to identify continuous improvements relating to reducing cost, wastage and not essential movement of materials along with improving productivity and creating a great working culture amongst your operatives. You will identify individuals with the desire to grow and ensure they receive the opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills.
This is a hands on management role, one that will see you working closely with your team of up to 40 direct reports. You will support your DM in creating a culture of challenge and recognition, an environment where staff offer suggestions for improving efficiency and productivity. Each of your team will understand their involvement and play their part in ensuring Health & Safety is managed, highlighting any potential risks. You will deliver H&S tool kits and regularly review risk assessment and SOP’s, updating paperwork any as required.
Key skills / Experience / Qualifications
- Previous production supervisory experience
- IT literate (Excel & other Microsoft office programmes)
- Some knowledge of Continuous Improvement would be advantageous
- Strong verbal communication skills (Comfortable having challenging conversations)
